Leo Egashira is a man of many talents. As a research coordinator at the School’s Indigenous Wellness Research Institute, he coordinates research into health disparities among Native Americans and examines resilience-based interventions in Indigenous communities, including projects that prevent opioid overdoses and elderly falls.

Tom Schaefer, a facilities assistant at the UW School of Social Work for more than 25 years as well as an avid marine educator, enthusiastic cyclist and staunch conservationist, died in a boating accident while in Mexico on March 4, 2022.
