Shawnti Johnson
Shawnti is a field advisor focused on the students participating in the Child Welfare Training and Advancement Program (CWTAP). With social justice and antiracism as core values and principles, Shawnti collaborates with multiple programs at the School of Social Work to bring the best practicum experience to students throughout their MSW education.
In CWTAP, Shawnti's areas of focus include students employed in child welfare operations at the Department of Children Youth and Families and the Federally Recognized Tribes in Washington state. Shawnti's academic interests include clinical practice, community practice, youth and adolescent services, clinical and reflective supervision, racial disproportionality in child welfare and critical mixed-race studies.
Shawnti is a mother, wife, sister, granddaughter, daughter, auntie, cousin, friend and community member. As a licensed clinical social worker, Shawnti is a strong advocate for social justice and seeks to build upon good works happening all around us. Shawnti is active in the community, offering their time and talent to the PTA, various school district and YMCA advisory councils and boards, and as a volunteer with organizations throughout Washington state.
