A recognized leader in the field of prevention science, the Social Development Research Group has raised the profile of this discipline worldwide. For more than 30 years, its researchers have sought to understand and promote healthy behaviors and positive social development among diverse populations of young people. Using science and community input, the group develops and tests change strategies for families, schools and communities. The center's survey division specializes in longitudinal studies and data collection for investigators around the country.

SDRG's Communities That Care is a science-guided approach to change that has demonstrated sustained improved well-being among youth by translating prevention science into tools that communities can use, when supported by superior technical assistance. SDRG recently launched online training and customized support that help community coalitions promote positive development and significantly reduce such problem behaviors as substance use, delinquency, violence and crime.
