Leo Egashira is a man of many talents. As a research coordinator at the School’s Indigenous Wellness Research Institute, he coordinates research into health disparities among Native Americans and examines resilience-based interventions in Indigenous communities, including projects that prevent opioid overdoses and elderly falls.

At the age of 68, he is still an avid hiker, backpacker and world traveler, visiting 49 of the 50 states (Kansas waits to be discovered). In the winter, he enjoys cross-country skiing and show-shoeing. And throughout the year, rain or shine, he hops on his bike, cycling more than 75 miles a week.

“Leo is especially passionate about centering identify,” said Nicole Reeve-Parker, writing for The Whole U, “his own, and the identities of those, like himself, who identify as both BIPOC and LGBTQIA.” Read more about Leo and his amazing take on life in his profile for The Whole U.
