There have been some exciting changes in the Dean’s office during the last few months. Two new administrative and fiscal staff have been hired and two others have returned to their prior positions.

Nagem Donowa started in mid-February as an administrative assistant. This is her first position at the UW; she previously worked as an administrative support associate in the corporate retail sector. Nagem moved to the Pacific Northwest from the East coast in 2017 after she finished college and she is looking forward to supporting the front office.

With Nagem’s appointment, Carrie Seaberg, who was hired to fill that slot temporarily, will now provide administrative and event support to some of the School’s research and innovation units. Since she arrived at the School last year, Carrie has provided excellent support, ranging from last fall’s faculty/staff retreat to the latest round of faculty recruitments.

Zia Uddin is the new budget/fiscal analyst lead in the Dean’s office where he’ll bring his business acumen to bear as he works with faculty, staff and students both pre- and post-award in grant administration and assists with the spectrum of funding sources from gifts to state budgets. Zia previously worked in the UW School of Medicine’s Ophthalmology Department where he was a fiscal specialist 2 for research. Before that, he was with Grant & Contract Accounting and other fiscal roles in Health Sciences. He also has experience in the tech sector.

Finally, we are delighted to welcome back Gail Colfax who returned as a fiscal specialist in the research finance unit. Gail has been a long-time employee here and has always provided expert financial support. We are fortunate to have her back.

Please be sure to welcome our two newest employees and say hello to our returning staff. We’re thrilled to have them be part of our community.
