Cory has an MSW from the University of Houston, Graduate School of Social Work, and has spent over 25 years working in child welfare. She began her career working with foster youth in Texas and then with the child protection agency in Alaska where she worked with children and families for six years. Cory has experience developing programs at Providence Health Systems in Alaska as the Manager of Alaska CARES, the Child Advocacy Center as well as the Forensic Nursing Services of Providence. Cory is experienced in forensic interviewing and is a forensic interview trainer. 

Cory is an Associate Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation and has experience coaching leaders who work in child welfare. In 2014, Cory took her experience and transitioned it into developing curriculum, training and coaching for the Child Welfare Academy with the University of Alaska Anchorage. 

In March 2021, Cory began her transition from the Associate Director of Training in Alaska to the Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence. Cory is passionate about the forensic interviewing field and looks forward to supporting others in their skill development with the goal of safety for all.
