Brenton Monroe, a member of the School’s Technical Support team, died Friday, April 29, in Seattle, following a car accident. He joined the school as a temporary computer support technician in October 2021.

Although a temporary hire, many people got to know Brenton and appreciated his many talents, whether he was helping out with computer inventory, AV installation, device imaging or computing support. He was committed to learning new technologies and wanted to pursue a full-time career at the University.

Brenton had a deep interest in civil rights and social action, economic empowerment, education, human rights and poverty alleviation, as well as science and technology. Before joining the School, he provided technical and computer support at nursing homes, healthcare providers, law firms, Amazon, WAVE, ChildHaven and other organizations. He had also served in the U.S. Armed Forces as part of the armored cavalry.

He is survived by his mother, two brothers and sister. In place of a funeral or memorial service, the family suggests contributions be made to the VA. Flowers and messages of condolence can be sent to his mother, Patricia Monroe, at 1014 Cunningham Lane South, Apt. 29, Salem OR 97302.
