The Council on Social Work Education’s National Center for Gerontological Social Work Education, also known as the Gero-Ed Center, provides social work students and faculty across the country with the competencies needed to enhance the health and well-being of older adults and their families. The center’s primary goals are to institutionalize advanced curricular resources and activities so they can be easily accessed by all social work faculty and students, and to implement the Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education with the Veterans Health Administration, which integrates field-based and classroom resources from the Council on Social Work Education.
Additionally, the center pursues strategic funding partnerships linking geriatric practice and education, establishes innovative policies for workforce development, and builds new models of interprofessional collaboration to prepare the next generation of social work leaders.
